“My wife was driving down a straight road about a mile from our home and the road curved but the car didn't and she hit a sign then a pine tree that stopped her. There were no skid marks and the air bag did not deploy. She was hospitalized and the car was totaled. We never could figure out what happened until the ignition problem came to light. She never drove again and developed multiple infections until she died feb. 24,2013 at age 57. Not knowing the wreck was not her fault.”

NHTSA complaint #10593190, filed 2014-05, 75,000 miles

“My car suddenly brakes hard on it's own as I am slowing and gently applying brakes. It starts around 20 MPH. It is very scary and dangerous. To have your car slam on it's brakes on it's own. I have heard that the powertrain/transmission can throw error codes p0700 and p2637 and that can cause the same sudden braking of the car on it's own. Also my coolant temperature gauge(digital) intermittently goes blank showing only three dashes instead of the temp. When it does this my air/heat will not work. My passenger door handle broke off. Also my airbag warning light will not go off. …”

NHTSA complaint #10533966, filed 2013-08, 59,000 miles

“Purchased new 2007 Pontiac Solstice 11/06. 3/12 driving west bound and trunk flies open - no warning light on dashboard. Took car to dealership on 3/13 for an accessory to be installed. Dealership called on 3/14 and said trunk was bent, scratched and damaged. Was not the case when I turned in the car on 3/13. Played phone tag the remainder of the week. Dealership informed me on 3/19 that the trunk opening and damage to trunk was my fault and they will not fix under warranty, contact insurance company. Car is still not fixed as of 3/21.”

NHTSA complaint #10185732, filed 2007-03, 2,200 miles

“Peg and insert connection of convertible roof and trunk are rusting on interior. Appears to be caused by alloys in contact without provocation of moisture. I took the vehicle into the dealer (car is 2 months and garaged) and repair service could only clean rust off and lube. The following day the rust returned. The solution would have been to use a stainless steel snapping pin in the trunks receptacles where the peg comes down into contact. Gm currently has no recall and the dealer is putting the responsibility on GM and nor honoring my warranty. …”

NHTSA complaint #10221765, filed 2008-03

“The Alloy wheels are pitted and the metal is peeling off. The hood does not line up with the fenders and the trunk does not line up with the fenders. I contacted GM and they wouldn't honor any warranty after it expired and wouldn't good will any of the issues. It is a 2007 with 8,376 miles. The car is not safe due to the body parts rattling and shaking and the wheels are so pitted that”
