2005: “The vehicle is leaking fuel. When tank is full the presence of the fumes are overwhelming. Other 2005 BAJA's have been repaired under a recall, but mine has not been fixed. I can't park in a garage due to life threatening reasons and it could ignite right now. Please help me.”
NHTSA complaint #11175853, filed 2019-02, 100,900 miles2006: “If the gas cap is not securely tighten and I mean tighten hard. The car will stop operating within 5 sec ish. This is not good, no matter where u are driving. Not enuff time to pull over safely. This has happened to me at least 4-5 times now.”
NHTSA complaint #11317580, filed 2020-03, 103,000 miles2004: “I have fuel leaking from the fuel lines on the drivers side to the right of the alternator. I am assuming one or both of these fuel lines are cracked. The fuel leaks when it is cold and stops leaking when the engine warms up. My BAJA is also hard to start when cold. I'm thinking the fuel lines are sucking in air where cracked.”
