“Today I write to you with the same complaint reported by jb on march 9, 2002. Last year I was told the very same thing by a Toyota service mechanic when my check engine light was evaluated. I have a mechanic in my family who analyzed the engine, sent it to a transmission specialist, and found the transmission to be in good working order. However, when I have to renew my inspection sticker, they informed me it will automatically fail due to the check engine light. This is outrageous! Please investigate as I suspect many more ECHO owners have the same problem and have just not reported it.”
NHTSA complaint #10151845, filed 2006-03“Received recall notice 00v256000 7 months ago. Took vehicle to dealership for repairs. Informed by mechanic that pcv port was already repaired. Afterwards, received letter from manufacturer that brakes were not repaired. Contacted dealer again, and was informed had no parts available, but will order parts or locate parts to do repairs of pcv port.”
NHTSA complaint #889576, filed 2001-06“When occupants sat in vehicle and got up, there was a squealing noise, on three different occasions the dealer would oil and adjust the alternator belt, after about two weeks the noise reoccured and finally the alternator belt was replaced, however the problem reoccured again.”
