“I was driving to a place a short distance from my home when I heard a noise and the car veered to the right. I pulled over immediately and got out of the car. The tire on the right front was blown out at the sidewall and I saw two holes at the inside of the sidewall one above the other. The rim was also destroyed.”

NHTSA complaint #10334723, filed 2010-06, 59,000 miles

“I bought 4 new pirelli cinturato p5 tires for my 2006 Toyota Prius in june of 2009 from discount tire. I was told that these tires would last for 85,000 miles before having to replace them. Since then I regularly rotated and balanced them. When I went to get my tires rotated and balanced again 6/2009, I was told that two of the tires are already worn out and I would be better off to get two new tires to keep me safe while driving. I informed the sales personnel that these tires are just 3 years old and with 40,400 miles since purchased. …”

NHTSA complaint #10458264, filed 2012-05, 80,400 miles

“With only 12k miles on this car the side wall of the goodyear integrity tire bubbled way out. Tire had to be replaced and the dealer would not do it under warranty. They said I must have hit something but I did not.”

NHTSA complaint #10168109, filed 2006-09, 12,406 miles

“Goodyear left rear tire blew out without warning on Toyota Prius (2006). Tire had less than 14,000 miles and the car was only 11 months old. Tire was examined by a Toyota dealer (to which the car had been towed) who did not find evidence of tire damage due road hazard.”

NHTSA complaint #10179006, filed 2007-01, 13,800 miles

“Low tire pressure sensor goes off every change of the season in the fall when humidity is high and temperature is low. Toyota knows about this as it is one of default selections in the on-line request for service.”

NHTSA complaint #10248420, filed 2008-11, 5,000 miles
