“About two months ago I purchased my first vehicle ever, it was a used car, as a new car owner I was super excited for my first car, driving out the dealership! But later on finding out that the car had some sort of recall on it ,not knowing what this meant, I started doing my own research and found out that this was a safety hazard for me and others on the road! Safety recall 20ta02”
NHTSA complaint #11396887, filed 2021-02, 35,000 miles“My 2019 Toyota RAV4 hybrid has a 14.5 gallon fuel tank. I bought it new two months ago and have almost 5,000 miles on it. In the two months since I've owned it, the fuel tank has never allowed me to fill it more than 11 gallons. If I try to top it off, it will just continually click off every couple cents. This is an ongoing problem, not a one time event.”
NHTSA complaint #11240389, filed 2019-07, 200 miles“I purchased the new 2019 RAV4 hybrid on 11/29/2019 at prime motors in saco, maine. It currently has 725 miles on it. When I attempt to fill it it won't fill all the way. It's advertised to have a 14.5 gallon tank but only holds about 10 gallons. The dealership advised me to keep pumping after the pump shuts off. This is very bad advice as it could overflow and cause a fire.”
NHTSA complaint #11307639, filed 2020-02, 650 miles“When filling my tank, auto-shutoff happens when the tank is at least 2 gallons shy of being full. I know this because my gas gauge does not indicate full and I am able to add an additional 2-2.5 gallons to my tank, though it takes a while because I have to push through all the auto shutoffs. It happens every time I fill up regardless os the station I'm fueling at.”
NHTSA complaint #11221492, filed 2019-06, 1,200 miles“I can only get about 10 gallons in this 14.5 gallon tank. The gas pumps clicks off at 3/4 full. I bought this car for the advertised range of about 500-550 and it is no where near that. Toyota is well aware of the problem as there are hundreds of complaints online about this same problem. I do not understand how some cars have the problem and apparently some do not.”
