Example complaints

Body and structure: “I have a 1994 Toyota Truck,4x4,4cyl,5spd. . The frame is totally rusted from behind the gas tank(which is unnoticable unless gas tank is removed)to the rear bumper. The exhaust and drivers rear side of the frame has rusted as well. Im each year replacing the exhaust due to rust. The frame has had a patch welded to it that I was unaware of until I had a mechanic do repairs to it. Each mechanic I have taken it too, says the recall for the Toyota frame rust should have gone back to 1994,as this is a common problem he has seen with this year as well. …”

NHTSA complaint #10244986, filed 2008-10, 130,000 miles

Engine cooling: “While running errands directly after having the vehicle serviced for a check engine light staying on for previous four days, the engine stuttered, then would not start after having been off for a few minutes. The service performed had found that the EGR valve was faulty, and a new one installed, but the subsequent symptoms were not related to the EGR at all. Engine would not turn over, but could be rotated counter-clockwise manually. When rotated clockwise, it would only go as far as it had been when stopped. …”
