“Leaf spring broke. On highway traveling and noticed wheels no right on trailer . Stopped and tires on double axle were touching. Underneath saw leaf spring broke . Weight of trailer is over the 7000 lb springs on suspension . Lippert mfg will send repair out to replace. Road repair told us he has replaced several of same recently due to the spring is too short . Lucky we didn't flip and injuries sustained.”
NHTSA complaint #11141618, filed 2018-10, 2,500 miles“7-way cord including brakes are fused off of the circuit breaker. When break away is activated it can blow this 20 amp fuse and terminate the power to the 7-way cord and break away. In a break away situation from the tow vehicle this would cause the break away switch to not activate and not stop the vehicle. I am a technician at an rv dealership and noticed this. I called van leigh and asked why they did this and have still not received an answer. I checked all of the other 2017 van leigh vilanos on our sales lot and they are all wired this way.”
