“On thursday, october 29th, I started my car after it had been parked outside for several days in the rain. After backing my car out of the driveway and then propelling forward, water (easily 1.5-2 cups) came out of the rear view mirror onto the paneling below. The water came out of the buttons as they were pushed on the panel. In addition, throughout the weekend, you could see the condensation in the buttons. As a result, the AC/heat paneling did not work correctly for several days. When I would turn on the car, the panel would light up and at times, I could not turn off some of the functions. …”
NHTSA complaint #11373444, filed 2020-11, 5,000 miles“Purchased my vehicle from a known dealership of Volkswagen, I’ve had the vehicle for 6 months and within the first three months my SOS system stopped working. I went to have it diagnosed and they stated that there is a back order on the module for the replacement. Now I’m experiencing a sweet smell coming from the vents, sometimes heat is interment and the windows have a film on them.”
NHTSA complaint #11772557, filed 2026-10“My daytime running light is inoperative and no longer works. This one small LED strip on the passenger side light requires a $2,300 full headlight replacement, which is unreasonable for any consumer given the scope of the issue. My vehicle is only four years old, and several other customers are experiencing this same issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11630027, filed 2024-12“When driving at roughly 50+ mph the windows roll down one their own and the driver door contact switch error comes on. Once slowing down, the parking break engages when you are still moving the vehicle. I have contacted VW to get this serviced and they have told me there is no fix currently and that I will be charged to provide my own rental vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11457468, filed 2022-03“pulling into a parking, backing out of my driveway on to the road, rolling with my foot off the gas preparing to brake the car shut off in gear. it is very dangerous happening when we back out of the driveway on to the road having to shift to park and manually restart the car. it happens with the auto shut off both on and off. this is a big issue that needs resolved before someone gets seriously hurt.”
