“2003 vw Beetle convertible. Automatic transmission began showing signs of trouble well over a year ago. Problem starts after 15 minutes of driving. Downshifts hard around 30-25 MPH. Also shows hesitation coming out of 2nd to 3rd gear. Car has 75,000 miles. Had transmission fluid changed/flushed twice in past 6 months hoping that would help. Took to dealership today, quoted me $1900 to replace valve body. Are you kidding me? Not to mention the fact that this car has had the rear window regulator go out -cost $300 to repair. …”

“Something needs to be done asap to make Volkswagen responsible for the 2003 Beetle convertible doors and window problems. I purchased this vehicle in 2003 with less that 10 miles on it since then I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle with most of the problem being with the doors and windows. The driverside door hinges broke off and all of my windows regulators/motors have been repaired multiple times and have been replaced once. Today tops the cake when my passenger side rear window would not roll up!! Now with the regulators just being replaced in 2006 this should not happen!!! …”

“The contact owns a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle. The contact stated there were wax fumes underneath the carpet that were in the vehicle. There was liquid wax that held the carpet in place throughout the vehicle. When the vehicle was hot and the air conditioner was on the wax fumes circulate back into the vehicle. The manufacturer stated he should take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who notified the manufacturer and stated there was nothing they could do to repair the failure. The manufacturer stated they would not repair the failure per the warranty. …”
