“Vehicle stalls when attempting to take off vehicle nearly dies when coming to a stop. Was told by dealer the transmission needs replaced. From what I have read the early version of this transmission has been highly problematic. I have contacted Volkswagen america and they informed me that there was no kind of recall for this car related to the transmission. I have however read of many other customers that have had problems with this transmission. …”

NHTSA complaint #11196056, filed 2019-04, 85,600 miles

“My car doesn't always go in reverse. The rem panel signal goes from 0-5 in minutes but feels like it's stalled. The engine light is always on. I read that there has been a recall because of a gear malfunction. And an extended warranty for cars up to 10years old or 100,000 miles. I fit into this category. This happens when I start the car and stop at a stop sign. I've taken my car to vw dealerships and private dealers and they can't seem to figure it out.”

NHTSA complaint #11279297, filed 2019-11, 25 miles

“Driving the car in traffic, the dsg transmission fluid is too hot. I got a whiff of burning transmission fluid accompanied by hot air. Oil low pressure warning light is illuminated and the car needs to be pull over. Vw dealership check the car and said the transmission is ok, but the dual-cluch is the problem. Checking in the internet I found vw extended the warrantie in some 2007-2009 models. Vw said my car is not under the extended warranty no matter is experienced the same issues. …”

NHTSA complaint #11063900, filed 2018-01, 78,000 miles

“After driving my car of and on for about two hours, I was leaving from a friend's driveway and realized my car would not go into reverse. I had to put the car in neutral and push the car out of the driveway. This way very humitating. After speaking to a Volkswagen dealership, they advised me that this has been an ongoing issue for sometime. Well I'm sorry Volkswagen I don't have money to waste, especially when they know that this has been a serious problem. I have children that I have to transport back and forth and at this point I dont feel that my Volkswagen is a reliable car. …”

NHTSA complaint #11145045, filed 2018-11, 133,436 miles

“For at least the last year the car has been jerking and/or not taking off when I step on the accelerator (when accelerating from a stand still or if pressing on the pedal when in motion). I have told the auto dealer more than once and was told they checked it and it was fine. So, the last time I took it in (the car only has 39,000 miles on it) I insisted that someone from the dealership take a ride with me as the problem still existed. The tech advisor did and admitted there is definitely a problem. I was 1st told it was a mechatronis coding error having to do with the dsg. …”
