“I was driving to work on my usual highway route when my sunroof exploded. There were not cars in proximity to mine, none in front, to the side or rear. I was on a bridge, about mid-section when the it happened. It was loud and sounded like an explosion. Luckily minimal glass dropped into the interior. I have no explanation for why it happened, it seemed spontaneous.”
NHTSA complaint #11056719, filed 2017-12, 7 miles“My 2016 golf GTI se has a leaking panaormic sunroof, it leaks into the interior causing damage to the ceiling, the passenger seat, the overhead lighting controls, and the passenger visor light. This happens even when there is a minor amount of rain. This happens when the car is moving or stationary. There are so many people with this problem that vw should be issuing a recall to fix it. I have a video showing what is happening but, you guys only accept pictures.”
NHTSA complaint #11316769, filed 2020-03, 30,600 miles“The front edge of the decorative metal trim around the gear selector sliced my finger open. This occurred on 3/12/2019 while reaching into the bin in front of the trim. The metal is extremely sharp and caused panic while driving as my finger bled.”
NHTSA complaint #11186048, filed 2019-03, 24,000 miles“Vehicle makes loud creaking noises from body-vw claims this is normal but my previous GTI did not do that. The wheels and suspension also make a loud clanking noise.”
NHTSA complaint #11032573, filed 2017-10, 5,000 miles“On sunday october 18 i was having lunch inside my car and the sunroof exploded out of no where,i got out of the car to see what fell on it and nothing was around, i called my insurance and they told me that they don't cover that because they work with safelite and safelite doesn't do sunroof. I went and procceed to call a volkswagen dealer to explain what happend and they told me i need to call volkswagen costumer care wich i did. When i called them they told me to call the dealer seems like nobody wants to take care of this issue.”
