Example complaints

Brakes: “Abs engine light is on. Found evidence online that vw extended coverage for replacement of this module. Fault code for safety recall for ABS module is 16v-913. Was told by the dealership that module is not under warranty. In addition, air bag indicator is on and check engine light is on. Just had the cheat device removed two months ago.”

NHTSA complaint #11233924, filed 2019-07, 64,000 miles

Air bags: “I was involved in a car accident on 6/01/2017. The police estimated that the car that hit me from the back was going 55mph. My airbag failed to deploy...even though my car was totaled due to suffering extensive from end damage. My car was stopped at the moment of impact. Due to the failure of my airbag my face and shoulder hit the steering wheel causing me to lose a tooth and cause great damage to my shoulder.”

NHTSA complaint #11223171, filed 2019-06, 17,000 miles

Fuel system: “Engine began to run rough and glow-plug light illuminated. Within 3 miles the power diminished and check engine light came on. Stopped for a stop sign and the car stalled in the intersection and would not start. Dealer has identified metal in the high pressure fuel pump.”

NHTSA complaint #10850216, filed 2016-03, 93,000 miles

Electrical system: “Rcd-315 radio died. While driving on country road, radio popped and died. After electrical test of fuses and internet search, I determined that the radio could not be repaired. The safety issue on this is that the bluetooth module was still active and there was no way to turn it off other than unplugging the bluetooth. Since I use hands free phone, this is a hazardous failure. I located 100's of websites that talked about this radio issue and the resulting electrical problems that this failure causes. This issue should be a recall priority.”
