“When driving my brand new 2015 Jetta tdi sel at night for the first time, 5 days ago, I was unable to see the road almost at all (even at bare minimum) when I engaged my high beams. Upon closer inspection and multiple tries I discovered my low beams would turn off every time I engaged my high beams while driving at night. I almost hit wildlife on the road and swerved to miss it. No crash or injury occurred this time and was lucky. At this time I am unable to use this car unless it is at full daylight. This is an extreme hazard that needs to be corrected. …”

NHTSA complaint #10721541, filed 2015-05, 600 miles

“Day-time running light, right-side (passenger side) bulb burned out, however when the bulb socket was removed, the plastic material had signs of heat damage/plastic material damage and the bulb could not be removed from the socket. The socket and bulb will need to be replaced. There was no recall listed for this issue within the NHTSA, however, the heat damage within the bulb socket is a concern. Local vw dealer mentioned that there was no TSB or recall on this electrical part. Socket and bulb replacement cost from the vw dealer is near $40.00.”

NHTSA complaint #11024706, filed 2017-09, 44,600 miles

“I purchased a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta from North Coast Auto Mall on March 19, 2023 and the following day several issues went wrong with the vehicle like: The car reeked of gasoline, oil and engine lights came on, driver side head light blew out. Also, I was told that the car had an inspection, come to find out they didn't do an inspection by North Coast Service manager, so they lied. Also, the reason for the gasoline smell is because the vehicle needs a fuel rack, oil pan, oil pressure switch, and a new headlight. Too many things are going wrong with this car in such a short period of time. …”

NHTSA complaint #11517608, filed 2023-04

“The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. When the high beam headlights were activated, the low beam headlights became inoperable. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.”
