“While driving I received an 'Auto Start/Stop' error message and my engine light was flashing. Lost drivetrain power. Pulled over and turned vehicle off. After letting it sit for 10 minutes I restarted the vehicle and the Auto Start/Stop error message displayed but no check engine light this time. Drove vehicle home and could not replicate issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11652954, filed 2025-04

“I am filing this complaint because Volkswagen is refusing to honor its factory powertrain warranty to cover a catastrophic internal engine failure on a vehicle with only 22,531 miles. The vehicle is well within its manufacturer's powertrain warranty limits. I have provided Volkswagen with two official receipts proving routine oil changes, GEICO insurance records proving the accident caused no front-end or engine damage, and an official email from Volkswagen stating there were no pre-existing issues with the vehicle. …”

NHTSA complaint #11756316, filed 2026-08

“I have been to the dealership numerous times since buying the vehicle over engine issues. Typically what happens is either the epc, check engine light, or both come on. All advanced driver systems turn off and the car enters limp mode where I can barely get it above 30 mph. The first time I was told it was an issue with spark plugs. The second time I was told a part did not get put back on correctly after changing my oil. The third time I was told spark plugs at first but when I reminded them they had changed them less than a year ago I was told it was bad gas. …”

NHTSA complaint #11761558, filed 2026-09

“I have had issue with the propulsion system. Sometime the vehicle jumps when just touching the gas petal, other times it takes a long time to get up to speed. I typically see slower power generation when going around corners, power seems to drop. Additionally every once in awhile I'll be driving and the emergency alert system comes on unexpectedly and unnecessarily, which in itself causes panic. The lane departure on this vehicle ping pongs you back and forth, it doesn't perform well at all and needs to be addressed. Aloy of software updates are needed. …”

NHTSA complaint #11696955, filed 2025-11

“The vehicle suffered a recurring mechanical failure of the fuel injectors and a flooded EVAP charcoal canister, causing the engine to run lean (Fault P2177) and lose power. This defect creates an unreasonable safety risk as it can cause the engine to stall or lose motive power unexpectedly at highway speeds. Furthermore, the fuel system defect led to a flooded EVAP system, which poses a potential fire hazard and fuel vapor accumulation. Volkswagen Technical Assistance confirmed the mechanical failure of all four injectors . …”
