“No electrical connection to steering wheel, air bag light is on... All similar problems to takata recall but my VIN was not included in the recall and the dealership is trying to charge me $800 to fix it. When vehicle was stationary and switched on, there was a tearing sound from the steering wheel - then nothing worked in the steering wheel, not the horn or the cruise control or anything. And the air bag light is on.”
NHTSA complaint #11043653, filed 2017-11, 36,000 miles“When operating at 65mph on cruise control I noticed a truck ahead of me slowing at a hill, so I pressed the down button to reduce the speed to 64, then again to 63 MPH. When I clicked again for 62 MPH the vehicle suddenly sped up because the cruise control had jumped back to 65 MPH. By that point I was quite close to the truck and had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision. This happened to me twice before I figured out what was going on. …”
NHTSA complaint #10638400, filed 2014-09, 18,000 miles“After turning motor on, and backing up, the car is unresponsive when shifted into drive,. On 4 occasions now I have had to restart the car and try again. The accelerator seems progressively unresponsive. Yesterday, the car stayed in gear, and on long enough for me to pull into traffic and then died. I had to restart while vehicles drove around me. Thankfully it was a residential street. I'm very worried now to drive the car as it could happen in a busier environment and result in an accident. …”
NHTSA complaint #10568738, filed 2014-03, 13,570 miles“The electronics in the steering wheel started going out, finally nothing on the steering wheel to do with electronics will work, no airbag no horn no cruise control no stereo buttons no other controls this problem is related to the clock spring, and so I took it to a dealer . The dealer said it had already had the recall done , they put a cover over the electronic clock spring, they said back when that this would fix the problem , well it doesn't fix the problem , it may delay it , until the car is out of warranty . …”
