Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Seatbelts are wet and moisture is building up in the car after heavy rain while sunroof and all doors closed and car is parked. Possibly a sunroof draining issue. Seatbelts mainly affected are in the rear, particularly rear-passenger - but front belts affected also. Water also observed in rear door wells and on front driver's window post (left of windshield). Seatbelts smell damp and are so wet that they are uncomfortable to wear and would leave water on clothes,”

NHTSA complaint #11339072, filed 2020-07, 3,000 miles

“I am getting 2 warning messages- fault electronic parking brake and error driver door contact switch. The car seems to think my door is open and therefore turns on the emergency brake for safety. This has happened when I am parked and also when I am driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11575966, filed 2024-03

“The overhead console in the vehicle detached on its own in October 2022 and will not stay secured. This has prevented my ability to see out of the front windshield and therefore hindered my safe operation of the vehicle. The dealer confirmed the issue but would not cover it under warranty, claiming that it was my fault for installing a dash camera. However, no wires are near the roof liner and the installation of my dash camera has nothing to do with the overhead console. The dealership then charged me $155 plus tax for this assessment . …”

NHTSA complaint #11503563, filed 2023-01

“The overhead console hangs down with wires blocking my rearview mirror and creating a blind spot on the right mirror. Volkswagon in Colorado told me that the console replacement part is on a national back order with no ETA at the time. My safety and the safety of others are put at risk because the overhead console swings while I am driving, which is a major distraction. I have to use one hand to keep the overhead console where it's supposed to be so I'm driving with one hand. Additionally, it blocks my view to my right mirror, impeding me from doing lane changes. …”

NHTSA complaint #11613157, filed 2024-09

“I am writing to report a serious safety concern regarding my Volkswagen Tiguan 2020. The dome light in my vehicle has completely broken off, melting the plastic from the screws, and was hanging by the electrical wires. This issue poses multiple safety hazards: 1.Injury Risk: While driving, the dome light unlatched and fell and struck me on the side of my head, causing a distraction and injury. 2.Visibility Obstruction: When the dome light is hanging, it completely blocks the view through the windshield and rearview mirror, significantly increasing the risk of an accident. …”
