“The car will not stop giving me the warning “travel assist currently not available”. It comes and goes randomly and I tried turning off all the travel assist features but it still keeps beeping. Sometimes the alarm goes on and off dozens of times per minute (yes, very frequently). I already took my car to VW dealership, they updated the software, the problem got better for a few days but came back again. …”

NHTSA complaint #11725164, filed 2026-03

“While driving down our sloped driveway with nothing in front of us, the automatic braking kicked in and brought our car to a very sudden halt without warning. The passenger was wearing a seatbelt and got thrown forward, causing soreness and mild injury to his shoulders. The problem has not been examined by the dealership. We adjusted the sensitivity level of this system to low as a result.”

The authorized dealer diagnosed the problem as requiring full cylinder head replacement. This is a major engine repair at low mileage. I previously told the dealer the vehicle needed oil added between changes. The issue has worsened and now requires a cylinder head. I escalated with dealership management and Volkswagen Customer Care. …”
