“I got this car in 2024 and it burns through oil. I am constantly replacing the oil and have had to have the seals replaced a couple of times. Every 200 to 300 miles I have to put oil in it. It’s too new of a car for that. I know a lot of other owners have had issues.”

NHTSA complaint #11760563, filed 2026-08

“Sudden Acceleration Issue. Leaving a parking lot at low acceleration my 2022 VW Tiguan SEL R-line suddenly accelerated. I was able to stomp on the brake pedal to remedy the situation. This happened twice in a 12 hour period. I have not yet taken it to the dealer as this is a rare incident at this time. All seemed like normal operation at the time the issue happened.”

NHTSA complaint #11449330, filed 2022-01

“When we drive the car the excelarator pedal does respond to moving the vehicle when in heavy traffic and starting off the response is slow the the vehicle jumps forward this has happened since we bought it please let’s not have another Toyota TPS problem with many people ding before anyone says something.”

NHTSA complaint #11483397, filed 2022-09

“My 2022 VW Tiguan 2.0T has delayed acceleration, hesitation, and often bangs into gear at start up. This issue can easily cause an accident when merging into traffic due the lack of reliable acceleration. I have had the vehicle to the dealer and they have found no problem. However, when pressed about internet reports of such problems with the 8 speed transmission they do acknowledge they have heard similar reports. They note there are no repair solutions from VW.”

NHTSA complaint #11525265, filed 2023-06

“What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? During a multipoint inspection that was earlier than advised due to multiple dashboard lights engaging, we were told that our car has an oil leak due from the timing covers and lower pan seal. They removed the oil separator and found value stem seals to be out towards the exhaust side creating an oil leak that stemmed from blown timing covers and the lower oil pan seal being the cause of the leak. The oil separator was noted as failed. …”
