Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“While driving the car on a state road (45 mph) the car suddenly notified me of an electrical fault , a light that looks like a turtle came on, and the vehicle lost power and couldn't go any faster than 5 mph. Another vehicle almost rear-ended me around a blind curve because I was moving significantly slower than normal traffic. I pulled into a parking lot, shutdown and restarted the car and everything seemed fine. It happened again a few minutes later so we started to head back home. …”

“I was on the 101 freeway on January 20, 2025. I was driving on the far left lane, driving 72-65 miles an hour. The 2025 Volvo EX90 suddenly wouldn't accelerate more than 36 mph. A turtle error came on the screen. Driving Performance Reduced Drive with Caution Book a Service message displayed. Due to the car suddenly slowing down, we almost were read ended by a truck. I have kids in the car. This car had multiple faults. I had the car serviced on 01/20/25 and received it back from the dealer on 01/28/25. …”

NHTSA complaint #11640499, filed 2025-02

“DESCRIPTION OF DEFECT: I am reporting a recurring incident of unintended acceleration in my Volvo EX90. On multiple occasions, immediately upon shifting the vehicle into Drive — before I touched the accelerator pedal — the vehicle accelerated forward on its own without any input from me. This has happened more than once and is not an isolated event. The acceleration occurs at the moment of gear engagement, before I have made any contact with the accelerator pedal. I took the vehicle to my Volvo dealership on 2/12/26. The dealer was unable to reproduce the issue or identify a cause. …”

NHTSA complaint #11746581, filed 2026-06

“I experienced a serious safety issue with my 2025 Volvo EX90 around 1:15 PM on October 7, 2025. It was drizzling at the time. I had stopped in front of an ATM to deposit and withdraw money. After finishing, when I released the brake pedal to leave, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward on its own, much faster than normal creeping speed. I had to keep pressing the brake pedal to control the car. I used intermittent braking to steer it around and managed to park it safely. After shifting into Park (P), I restarted the vehicle’s system, but the issue did not go away. …”

NHTSA complaint #11692870, filed 2025-10

“I was parked in a parking lot and when I released my foot from the break, the car accelerated on its own and crashed into the car in front of me. The automatic emergency braking did not deploy. It was most recently a safety risk and put others in the parking lot, particularly the driver in front me, in danger. I have reported this issue to Volvo and they instructed me to get the body of the car repaired and then the dealer will inspect it. I filed an insurance claim with my insurance company and the car is going to be repaired. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure.”
