“I've had numerous electronic problems with my Volvo V70 since I bought it in 1998. The vehicle has been brought back to the Volvo repair dealer for many repairs (I have organized documents of all the repair orders) clearly identified as lost of power while driving. Mostly on small roads and only once on an interstate. Originally started under warranty, I was told that the same problem was not covered outside of warranty when I spoke with the president of Volvo north america's secretary. …”
NHTSA complaint #10137600, filed 2005-09, 38,000 miles“The braking sometimes becomes diminished. The pedal is 'stiff' and normal baking is reduced. It occurs so rarely that there is no way for me to expect that it will present for a mechanic on a test drive. Occurrences are many days or even weeks apart. The symptom involves a distinct variation on the normal braking experience: a slight throbbing occurs and diminished stopping power is available, I have to press markedly harder to get the car to stop. Scary. This symptom is so intermittent and fleeting, it seems it would be near impossible to demonstrate and track down. …”
NHTSA complaint #10238089, filed 2008-08, 59,000 miles“When the brake pedal was depressed, the brakes didn't engage and the vehicle failed to stop, as a result the driver had to continuously pump the pedal to stop vehicle. Consumer stated there was complete and total brake failure. The consumer had the ABS unit that was replaced. The check engine light illuminated. The dealer reset the light.”

When the throttle control module failed in march 2005, my 1999 Volvo V70 had only 55,000 miles on it! …”
NHTSA complaint #10131460, filed 2005-08, 55,000 miles“Brakes failed after complete replacement due to overheating. Rear caliper failed and caused brake line to close and pedal to go to floor. Car had to be towed back 50 miles to dealer.”
