“Tail gate latch fails to shut in cold weather and tailgate cannot be closed while driving. Manufacturer has recalled some of these vehicles, but not all (my VIN number not included and I've noted there are several other similar complaints regarding this already filed with nhsta) - recall needs to be expanded!!! Dealer refuses to repair.”
NHTSA complaint #10086676, filed 2004-08, 5,000 miles“Rear locking mechanism broke . Rear locking light illuminated, and lock was not locking completely. Consumer contacted the dealer. However, dealer did nothing to assist the consumer. Recall 00v239000 concerning tailgate locking mechanism was issued.”

The recall states that the tailgate locking mechanism may have been incorrectly manufactured which, in combination with cold temperatures, could cause improper locking of the tailgate. The consumer was informed by the dealer that the vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN.”
