“2006 stratoliner s has a very dangerous problem with speedometer light glare reflecting off of the factory windshield. The glaring light which reflect is so bad, I nearly crashed into another vehicle late at night. I have brought this up to my dealer numerous times, but Yamaha fails to listen and create a speedometer glare shield to prevent the bright speedometer light from reflecting onto the windshield. The problem is so severe that all stratoliner owners are complaining about this in all online Yamaha forums. When are you guys going to do something about this?! …”
NHTSA complaint #10323449, filed 2010-04, 20,250 miles“Possible failure of valves in rear cylinder of the Yamaha road star causing an immediate loss of power. This can (and has) put the driver and / or passenger in danger. This has been a problem with these motorcycles for a number of years and Yamaha has done nothing to correct it or prevent it from happening.”
