“Consumer's vehicle experienced the same problem as mentioned in recall 96v071000 concerning ignition switch. Dealership would not repair the problem free of charge, because the VIN was not included.”
NHTSA complaint #10092585, filed 2004-09, 142,222 miles“The ignition freezes in the start position which causes difficulty in starting the vehicle. This vehicle is not included in recall 96v017000 concerning ignition failure.”
NHTSA complaint #10046602, filed 2003-11, 149,000 miles“Audi issued recall for some a6 models on failed ignition switch. The 1994 100s is essentially the same car with probably same switch. According to my shop they have seen tons of these. Yet I have to pay because my car is a '94, instead of 1995 and 1996 makes no sense.”
NHTSA complaint #751864, filed 2001-09“I am a senior citizen, 87 years young, who owns a 1994 Audi 100. I am the second owner. According to Audi of america, my vehicle was eligible for an ignition switch recall and a new switch was installed in 1996 at tyson's Audi in tysons corner, va. My concern is this. I am experiencing the identical electrical problems listed in the original recall. The dealer tells me my problem the ignition switch and it needs to be replaced. Isn't that a bit odd? Are ignition switches parts that usually need to be replaced? Have other owners of the recall experienced that same problem? …”
NHTSA complaint #10233647, filed 2008-07“Ignition switch failed. See NHTSA campaign id 96v017000. Exact same defect. Seems like too much of a coincidence that my car, built 9/93 wouldn't have same switch component w/ same problem. But my car is not covered?? Audi ignores me.”
