“I have had problem with my car's coils and fuel pump and learned recently that these components were under recall yet I was never notified of this. Does the manufacturer or dealer have an obligation to notify owners of recalls? I have paid a mechanic to replace these parts and would have taken to dealer if told of recall. Thank you”

NHTSA complaint #10450896, filed 2012-03, 50,000 miles

“Fuel pump failure. While driving. Suddenly without power. Fortunately was able to pull over to the side of the road. 2003 Audi A4, which has had recall notices on it for exactly this issue. Yet when I talk to the dealer about it, they say my VIN isn't one of the ones impacted so it's not covered. It's exactly the model year and model and the exact problem they've admitted. But now in a documented case, they are refusing to cover the repair.”

NHTSA complaint #10410957, filed 2011-07, 69,000 miles

“I own a 2003 Audi A4. I can not refuel the car with the opw model 12vw nozzle. The nozzle shuts off immediately and spills gas back out onto the car and person fueling the car. All other opw models and other makes of nozzles work normally. This is causing more of a problem in my area lately because most new gas stations use this nozzle and as old nozzles are being replaced, they use the opw 12vw.”

NHTSA complaint #10138956, filed 2005-10, 5,000 miles

“I purchased a brand new 03 Audi a4t quattro in june of 03. The dealer is great and thank god they value their customers because my car has given them alot practice on everything. I think germany sent us a dud! …”

NHTSA complaint #10185923, filed 2007-03, 52,125 miles

“Audi A4 2003, the clutch failed at 30,000 miles, but Audi refused to fix the problem until it was completely undrivable. I had to pay out of pocket because it was categorized as wear and tear, thus not covered by Audi's least. The electrical system and the fuel pump also failed and needed to be replaced. The jack broke while changing a flat tire and I was told that this had happened to other Audi owners, but still had to pay the damage to the plastic siding out of pocket.”
