Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I'm deeply concerned about the safety risks my family faces due to unresolved Audi recalls. On December 19 and 20, 2023, Audi issued two recalls: one for high-voltage battery modules that may self-discharge, leading to overheating and an increased risk of fire, and another for the 220V/240V charging cable, which can overheat home wiring, posing a serious fire hazard. On September 19, 2024, I took my car to Niello Audi to address these recalls, but they advised me to take the car home despite the significant safety risks. …”

NHTSA complaint #11615697, filed 2024-09

“From time to time the driver's door does not latch completely so the door is only partially closing. Dealer was able to duplicate the problem but will not replace (estimated cost for new door latch is just under $800.) at their expense. It appears that others have had the same problem. When driving the car air rushes into the vehicle as the door is not fully shut. I worry that this problem could be very serious should I be in an accident with a partially closed door rather than a fully closed door. The problem first appeared early in the winter and seems to be getting worse.”

NHTSA complaint #11736149, filed 2026-05

“Upon the vehicle resting at a stop, for longer than 30 seconds, the vehicle will no longer accelerate. “SAFE” warning is shown by the instrument cluster. Had to turn power off to vehicle and back on for vehicle to accelerate. This has happened twice almost resulting in being rear ended and being stuck in traffic.”

NHTSA complaint #11491002, filed 2022-10

“1. The brakes all of a sudden failed. We were at an elementary school in carpool line - near children- the brake pedal did not work at all, nothing. Warning message to stop driving brake failure. The Audi-Sense alert did at least put on the emergency parking brake before hitting a car ahead of us. Turned off and on, checking if computer vs actual brake issue (see below, computer issues as well). The car lurched forward, then warning, got out of line onto side of parking lot. After turning off and on again, it worked to drive again. …”
