“Takata air bags my air bag light keeps coming on, my car is effected by the recall but when I run the VIN # it's not showing up. It's a safety problem and I'm afraid the air bags will deploy while driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11153367, filed 2018-11, 152,000 miles

“Air bag warning light started to come on with no apparent cause. I took the car to the dealer, and was told that the mat in the passenger seat had failed and needed to be replaced, and that it was a safety issue. Cost was over $1,100 plus tax. I now see that there is a recall for 2006 325XI models with sport seats -- my car does not have sport seats, but had the exact same problem. I believe that all models should be included in the recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10562927, filed 2014-02, 73,690 miles

“I have received a sensor light stating that I have a passenger restraint malfunction. Then it goes away after a few days until someone else sits down which would lead me to believe that it has to do with the pressure sensor mat on the passenger side. I have read that this happens to be a recall for Bmw but my VIN apparently is not covered in the recall. I am extending this complaint in the hopes that Bmw will investigate and extend the recall to more models with this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10936555, filed 2016-12, 108,500 miles

“The idrive control panel is showing an alert that the passenger airbag has failed. I contacted Bmw customer service and they say my VIN is not included in NHTSA campaign number 13v564000 (air bags) even though the description of the problem matches my problem exactly. I have a 2006 Bmw 325XI with standard seats and according to 13v564000 I should be eligible for coverage under the extended warranty. Bmw is telling me I am responsible for the repairs.”

NHTSA complaint #10588972, filed 2014-05, 95,000 miles

“The red passenger-side air bag and seat belt lights come on and stay on, whether or not anyone is sitting in the passenger seat. My Bmw dealer has told me this means the passenger airbags are deactivated and this is a common occurrence caused by a faulty sensor.”

NHTSA complaint #10519557, filed 2013-06, 80,000 miles
