2014 BMW 328D Latches, locks and linkages Problems

“The contact owns a 2014 BMW 328D. The contact stated that occasionally, the front driver's side door failed to unlock as needed. The contact was concerned that if there was an emergency he might be unable to exit the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure however, the contact stated that no further assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.”

“The driver side door lock mechanism failed completely while the driver was in the vehicle, making it impossible to open the driver side door or exit the vehicle normally. Neither the interior door handle, nor the central power lock/unlock control, nor the remote key fob, nor the physical key inserted into the door lock from the outside can unlock the door. The driver was forced to exit the vehicle by moving the driver seat to an extreme aft position, then climbing over the center console into the passenger seat, to exit via the passenger door. …”
