“The door locks would not work with the fob. I was locked in side the vehicle. When I finally got out and tried to open the doors from outside, the doors would not open. This situation has happened many times over the years. I was trapped inside the car during a heavy rain fall on the road last year due to the doors not unlocking.”
NHTSA complaint #10463295, filed 2012-06, 3,000 miles“Door actuators on my 2007 Bmw 328I failed. It began with just the front two doors and then the rear doors. A very expensive repair, mostly labor expense. I am thankful that this did not occur when away from home as locking and unlocking the doors was not possible. Also, if someone had been in the backseat they may not have been able to get out.”
NHTSA complaint #10349634, filed 2010-08, 64,000 miles“Door locks would not open leaving me locked out of the car and stranded. Had to have the car towed 300 miles to get it back home where a Bmw repair place was available. Had to replace both front door actuators at a cost of $600.00 just to get back inside my car. If a baby was trapped in the car it could of died by the time it was to get anyone to help get the doors open. The most dangerous design I've ever heard of. Interior door handles will not work and no way to get out of the car if it happened while I was inside.”
NHTSA complaint #10668571, filed 2014-12, 68,243 miles“My doors have locked and will not unlock without a very expensive repair. I have to use the internal key from the key fob to unlock the driver door but there is no way to unlock any of the other doors. This is extremely dangerous as the other doors will not even unlock from inside the car. Also if you plan on having any passengers they all have to get in through the driver door, if in an accident they have to get out of the driver door, this is absolutely ridiculous and was expensive to fix!”
NHTSA complaint #10424207, filed 2011-09, 53,000 miles“My doors have locked and will not unlock without a very expensive repair. I have to use the internal key from the key fob to unlock the driver door but there is no way to unlock any of the other doors.”
