NHTSA complaint #10838120, filed 2016-02, 81,400 miles

“I was driving home from the dry cleaners. As I was trying to merge into the freeway, the car check engine light came on with about a 70% reduction in power. I couldnt merge onto the freeway safely, and had to pull tot he shoulder. The car is currently at Bmw dealer for repairs. It has been suggested that it is due to the fuel pump.”

NHTSA complaint #10474082, filed 2012-09, 49,300 miles

“I was driving on the interstate when my car started to lose acceleration. I could not accelerate up an incline. Then I heard a rattling. The next exit was a rest stop and as I was exiting my vehicle failed and shut down. I had no power at all. I coasted to a parking stall and turned the vehicle off after parking it safely. When I opened the hood the vehicle was not hot or smoking so I tried to start it. The car started but with a very loud knocking and rattling so I shut it off again and phoned the dealership. …”

NHTSA complaint #11361169, filed 2020-09, 128,000 miles

“The fuel pump on my 2009 Bmw 335I has failed and I believe it's starting to fail again but everytime I take it in they say it's fine and they cant do anything until it actually fails. Problem with that is if it fails on the highway doing 70mph then I'm going to be in a world of hurt. The pump has already failed once.”

NHTSA complaint #10345597, filed 2010-07, 24,000 miles

“It's an ongoing issue which Bmw has failed to fix. I believe I have issues with my high pressure fuel pump. I have had the low pressure sensor replaced, and a software upgrade. Last night, the car had a rough idle, and the warning engine malfunction, reduced power was displayed. I drove home slowly. The car roughed idled. In addition, I called Bmw assist to file the complaint. There was a voluntary recall, but I have not received any type of notification for my vehicle.”
