“2022 BMW 430i xDrive Rear Differential leak and required complete replacement. My vehicle had less than 69,000 miles at the time and my mechanic stated that this was the second 2022 BMW that had to have a differential replaced. This issue was first confirmed by the BMW dealership December 2025 but my vehicle's warranty just expired (less than 500 miles over the warranty). The mechanic mentioned that it's highly unusual to need a differential replaced. They usually last the lifetime of the vehicle especially with my car being a 2022.”
NHTSA complaint #11720817, filed 2026-02“The contact owns a 2022 BMW 430I. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds, the transmission independently shifted into neutral. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the failure recurred shortly after driving for several miles. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.”
