Example complaints

Engine: “I started my stationary vehicle in my driveway and I saw white smoke coming from under the hood. After further inspection, I saw a small fire on the connector to the auxiliary water pump. Using water I put out the fire. I took out the pump and harness and took pictures. I contacted Bmw north america, who requested me to take the vehicle to Bmw dealership, who confirmed that it was the water pump that failed. There already is an active recall for a water pump for my vehicle, but as my vehicle has two water pumps, according to Bmw, it is not for this water pump. …”

NHTSA complaint #11055536, filed 2017-12, 110,000 miles

Fuel system: “Low pressure fuel sensor was said to be replace, Bmw has record of this known issue. I went to get my vehicle checked out first because the water pump was bad and Bmw knows this as well. Then they stated I need to change the low pressure fuel sensor for $900+ dollars. I just replaced the water pump costing $1,199 dollars , Bmw is aware of these ongoing issues in these cars and are doing nothing about it!”

NHTSA complaint #11057068, filed 2017-12, 79,966 miles

Electrical system: “My Bmw X6 is experiencing electrical issues. The passenger rear view mirror no longer folds in and I can't adjust it to a perfect position. Also my wiper speed will not adjust. When in reverse the camera flickers badly. Sometimes it works, other times it does not. Very inconsistent.”
