1994: “Backed out of my garage and stopped in driveway. Smelled something burning. Looked under hood and saw smoke coming from side of engine due to brake fluid being sprayed from a brake line when brakes applied. Had brake line replaced and found a hole which had resulted from line rubbing against chassis. I have saved the replaced line in case verification is desired.”
NHTSA complaint #10662855, filed 2014-12, 91,000 miles1992: “I purchased a new 1992 4 door Cadillac Brougham. At present the car has 45,000 miles. All 4 drs automatically lock when the gear shift is engaged. Problem: starting around mid-december, 2005 and through march 30, 2006, all 4 drs automatically unlocked while the car was in motion. This happened about 4-5 times in this time period. Other than the doors unlocking, there were no other operational problems. On march 31, 2006, all 4 drs unlocked again. This time, about one (1) minute after the doors unlocked, the engine shut down leaving me with no power brakes or steering. …”
NHTSA complaint #10154460, filed 2006-04, 45,000 miles1991: “Just driving down the road ( about 40 MPH ) I heard what sounded like the muffler falling off the car with a bang and the car moving oddly and hearing a metal noise. I found it to be the very rear crossmenber ( the one before the rear bumper ) had fallen off. I have done welding for over thirty years this was not welded properly. The car has been in a garage from day one and my mom is the only owner. The paint and undercarriage is like new! ( no rust and all maintenace has been done ) if someone else had been driving they may have lost control of the car! …”
