“2002 Deville bought is used with 46,000 miles after driving it 1,500 miles I noticed it used 3 quarts of oil. Everyone I ask says it is excessive and I agree I can not get this taken care of on my own and I owe too much money on the car to get rid of it. Cadillac should fix this problem I have talked to other individuals and they had the same problem with one car having blown the engine. He now drives a toyota avalon.”

NHTSA complaint #10242380, filed 2008-09, 46,000 miles

“My husband and I purchased a 2002 Cadillac Deville october 14, 2001. On april 25, 2003 with 11,059 miles on the odometer the car stalled while driving and we were able to pull over to the curb to allow the traffic to go by. We were able to restart the car and proceed to the dealership where they replaced two sensors under the warranty. On july 28, 2006 with 30,779 miles on the odometer it stalled again at a traffic signal. After trying for sometime the car was restarted and we took it to the dealer where they replaced these same two sensors at a cost of $468.65 to us. …”

NHTSA complaint #10165765, filed 2006-08, 30,779 miles

“1. No warning 2. Engine will stall for no reason at any speed. Could cause vehicle to wreck resulting in death. Has happened numerous times with the loss of all power has resulted in running through stoplights and signs because could not brake properly. 3. Took to dealer for diano stated crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced. Have replaced twice now.”

NHTSA complaint #10217771, filed 2008-02, 57,000 miles

“1. No warning. 2. Excessive oil consumption. Cadillac is aware of this issue and needs to issue a recall before one of their engines uses all the oil, over heats, causing a fire that kills someone. This issue is all over TSB forums 3. Beyond adding 5qts of oil between scheduled oil changes nothing. I cannot afford the $5000 engine rebuild for their mistake.”

NHTSA complaint #10217772, filed 2008-02, 57,000 miles

“Consumer was blind, and his wife drove him around. But she was having trouble seeing because there was a foul smell that came into the vehicle, and the substance burnt her eyes. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer/mechanic 3 times, but the problem was not resolved. Mechanic told consumer that he was waiting for a part before he could repair the problem.”
