“Check coolant light, overheating, taken to garage free lance Cadillac mechanic researched problem that it is a factory related incident that the first owner of the car ignored and should have been sent back to GM and they would have fixed it. I am a second owner to car and I have inherited this problem. Blown head gasket............you pour coolant in and it runs right out the tail pipes!”

NHTSA complaint #10264909, filed 2009-04, 112,000 miles

“Started burning oil at 58,000. Dealer replaced pistons and charged me $6376. Called mfg. To complain about cost. They immediately refunded 50% of bill. Was there a recall? Am I still paying more than I should? The 50% refund came too easy. I talked to a stranger at a car wash, with an identical car, who had the exact same problem! His was still under warranty.”

NHTSA complaint #10177071, filed 2006-12, 58,000 miles

“Oil leak from oil pan. This car had not leaked oil previous to this incident. While driving I noticed an oil burning smell and smoke coming from the engine compartment. After investigation I learned that 3 quarts of oil had leaked during my drive. I did get this fixed a auto repair facility. I then learned that the fix that GM had come up with was some sort of plate. The repair shop installed same.”

“Driving into my drive way I noticed that my car pulled in very fast. Normally, I idle in my car into the drive way, this time it was much faster and the engine was very accelerated. I parked the vehicle and the engine was accelerated up to 1850rpm. I pressed the gas pedal to free up the throttle, it made is worst. The vehicle RPM increased up to 2835 RPM and stayed stuck at 2835 RPM. After 10 to 15 seconds the RPM slowly dropped down to 1500 RPM and stayed at these revolution. I had to turn off the vehicle. It's normal idle RPM are 675-700rpm. …”

“2000 Cadillac Deville north star with 50 thousand miles....uses oil and has since 30 thousand miles... Cates motor company of madisonville, kentucky says that using oil is normal for the north star engine. Using oil is not normal! I have never owned anything but cadillacs and they didn't use oil until 100+thousand miles. My 88 Cadillac sedan Deville-gold executive has 203,000 miles and uses a quart every 3,000 miles! A 2000 Cadillac Deville with a north star engine should not be using oil... Using oil is not normal. Why is cates motor company of madisonville, ky. Telling me it is normal? …”
