Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2000: “I entered a parking lot at 10 MPH and slowed to 5 MPH and turned left into a parking space and tried to stop. The brakes did not work and I crashed into the vehicle next to me. I immediately checked the brake fluid level and it was full. No ABS light has ever been on, and I just recently passed my vehicle safety check with no codes on the system.”

NHTSA complaint #10626165, filed 2014-08, 240,840 miles

2004: “Antilock braking system warning lights and brake light came on when I was entering the freeway. The lights continue to come on whenever I am driving. I had it checked at corning Chevrolet and was told the part alone was $900 plus labor to replace it. The brakes work, but not the antilock system installed by the manufacturer.”

NHTSA complaint #10717422, filed 2015-05, 50,500 miles

2001: “Brake and ABS lights come on intermittently, I had the code pulled at the auto parts store, it is the electronic ABS control module and upon googling Chevrolet brake ABS lights it came to my attention that their appears to be thousands of vehicles with faulty ABS electronic modules which prevents the ABS function from working.”

NHTSA complaint #10536053, filed 2013-08, 58,000 miles
