Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When braking, the ABS system did not engage. It felt as if there were no, if any brakes. After pressing persistently, the vehicle eventually stopped. If the distance to brake had not been sufficient, it is easily conceivable that an accident would have occurred. The same scenario happened within 7 days of the first occurence. Again sufficient distance for the brakes to grab avoided an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #709036, filed 1999-07

“Driving down highway at approximately 20 MPH when the ABS brake failed and transmission locked. Applied foot to the brakes and did not have any brakes, ran into the back of a vehicle .”

NHTSA complaint #805308, filed 1996-11
