Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

1995: “Front drivers seat displayed an increasing wobble from about mid oct 1999. When the wobble worsened, I atempted to tighten the front driver's seat anchor bolts (where seat assembly attaches to seat frame structure). At that time I found that the front structural cross member of the drivers seat had shattered at the mounting bolt displaying severe fatigue failure. If an accident were to occur there is high probability of the seat dislodging or collapsing due to compromised structural integrity.”

NHTSA complaint #713736, filed 1999-10

1993: “When braking, the ABS system did not engage. It felt as if there were no, if any brakes. After pressing persistently, the vehicle eventually stopped. If the distance to brake had not been sufficient, it is easily conceivable that an accident would have occurred. The same scenario happened within 7 days of the first occurence. Again sufficient distance for the brakes to grab avoided an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #709036, filed 1999-07

1996: “Going about (65) MPH and cruise control would not disengage. Consumer states he hit the brakes three times and then tapped the accelerator and the vehicle finally began to slow down, consumer also states that the throttle sticks sometimes when cruise is not engaged, this happens when vehicle has been warmed up.”
