Example complaints

Seats: “On three occasions the driver side seat bench fell backwards and passenger side fell backwards four times. Tt the service department says the seats fall backwards due to a bolt in the seat mechanism that snaps freeing the back of the seat from locked position. The manufacturer has not solved this deadly defect.”

NHTSA complaint #973872, filed 1995-10

Brakes: “When braking, the ABS system did not engage. It felt as if there were no, if any brakes. After pressing persistently, the vehicle eventually stopped. If the distance to brake had not been sufficient, it is easily conceivable that an accident would have occurred. The same scenario happened within 7 days of the first occurence. Again sufficient distance for the brakes to grab avoided an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #709036, filed 1999-07
