“I was on my way to a car show and stopped at a stop sign. As I continued on at about 3/4 throttle o was shifting gears as I went from 2nd to 3rd gear I heard and felt a loud bang on bottom of car. I lost all acceleration and pulled over. I picked up the parts from the road. After having car towed to a friend's shop we were able to get it on a lift and see that the drive shaft had exploded at the mid point. …”
NHTSA complaint #11114909, filed 2018-07, 16,000 miles“2011 chevy Camaro less than 10,000k miles. Driving in traffic in maybe a 1% grade hill. Burning smell, the car wouldn't catch in 1st or 2nd gear. Lost all acceleration, had to cross multiple lanes on the highway. Sat in the car for over 2 hours for towing company. Then shop test drove next day, gears work, but bad burning smell continues. Shipped to Chevrolet. I did research online and see multiple people have this problem. This is a safety hazard and it placed my life into danger!”
NHTSA complaint #10421093, filed 2011-08, 9,300 miles“My car began to over heat causing my vehicle to suddenly lose power. Also caused fogged windshield .. The heater core on the Camaro from 2010 - 2013 are having malfunctions causing the car to overheat and or spill boiling liquid onto your passengers feet, if you were to have a passenger start to scream when this burning liquid were to hit their feet while wearing high heels or sandals you can easily get distracted and lose control of you vehicle from just someone screaming out of now where, there are countless stories on the Camaro forum about these heater cores going bad.. …”
NHTSA complaint #10622194, filed 2014-08, 37,000 miles“There is a notchiness when shifting into second gear from first under hard acceleration. This results in a second gear grind and I am unable to get into second gear sometimes. Also, occasionally the transmission will pop out of second gear and return to neutral resulting in no acceleration, which is a serious problem when pulling out into traffic. I have read about several people with the same issues as me, especially with grinding second gear, and GM simply needs to fix the issue instead of saying that the transmission is operating as intended . …”
NHTSA complaint #10445685, filed 2012-01, 100 miles“Leaving work and the clutch stuck when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear then there was a terrible burning smell and it stalled in the middle of an intersection. Then while I was on the highway driving 65mph I down-shifted from 6th to 5th for upcoming slower traffic and the clutch stuck again and the car starts to stall. Both times I had pressed on the gas thinking the clutch would come out and it didn't so then there was terrible burning smell. I finally got the clutch unstuck both times and proceeded home. It didn't do it while driving to work but my car had been in the garage all night. …”
