“My 2012 Camaro convertible developed leaks (holes) in the water management system of the convertible top. The damage appears to be done by the roof mechanical system. Dealer reports this is a 20 hour job and will cost a few thousand dollars to replace. My contention is that the design and build of the convertible roof is the root cause of the holes in the water management system and GM should hold some responsibility for this. …”

NHTSA complaint #10981064, filed 2017-04, 38,000 miles

“I was driving the car to the gas station to get a drink. When I pulled in I shut the car off removed the key and locked the doors. When I came back out my car was on fire. Fire department had to be called to put out the fire. Fire department deemed the fire to be caused by the electrical system.”

NHTSA complaint #10523902, filed 2013-07, 30,000 miles

“In 6/2018, I discovered that my car was beginning to corrode above the wheel well on the driver's side (my car was still 5 years old at the time of the discovery, but over 100k miles). Within one week, I took it to the dealer--at which I purchased it new in 2012--who confirmed that it was indeed corrosion and indicated on the written estimate that the hem flange was not properly sealed from factory causing contaminants to enter and start corrosion on the left quarter panel. The dealer quoted me $3,000 to repair the quarter panel. In 6/2018, I called GM customer service. …”

NHTSA complaint #11124197, filed 2018-09, 127,000 miles

“I pulled out of my parking place at my condominiums. I could not get my car to stop. The brakes were not working. This has happened many times over the years since I purchased the vehicle. I have taken it into the dealerships in my area on numerous occasions but they have told me they will only fix it if it does it while it is in their care. I have other people who have been driving my car when it has happened but it has not happened while I have been at the dealership. The most recent occurrence happened and I ran into poll and my bumper now needs to be replace.”

NHTSA complaint #10626869, filed 2014-08, 3,256 miles

“The convertible top has become increasingly slower when putting it up and down. There are signs on the top of the car where it latches of something grinding. Took to dealer and was advised that the top operated at normal speed when compared to a similar model. Currently operation is exceeding 20 seconds for the top to be lowered or raised. Also top is not going down all the way as the fabric obscures the mirror when driving.”
