2012: “Was driving down the interstate when my airbag light came on. It stayed on for 8 miles then switched off. I was doing approx 68 MPH when it came on, turned off when I slowed down at 50 for road construction. Had just picked the vehicle up from the dealer that morning after having a rear axle boot/shaft something like that replaced under warranty.”

NHTSA complaint #10722001, filed 2015-05, 68,000 miles

2014: “Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva. The vehicle was purchased through a dealer sale. The mileage at the time of the purchase was 140,436. It was discovered four days later that there was a mileage discrepancy. The odometer suddenly turned to 228,000. The contact was unable to obtain a title. The state attorney general was contacted, who referred to the state, who failed to answer the phone and the NHTSA hotline.”

NHTSA complaint #11741599, filed 2026-06, 228,000 miles

2013: “The engine light was on and i went to dealership to have it checked out. They told me that it was a computer glich and not to worry about it. Was driving on the highway when the engine exploded and the car stopped. I was able to glide to the side of the road. After talking to dealership again they said that this model had something wrong with a part in the engine that normally would cause the car to stop without warning when reaching around 125,000 miles on it. I made it to 150,00+.”
