“I have Chevrolet Colorado, 2004 standard cab. The left reat tire blew and I mean blew while I was driving down the freeway. I don't think I hit a thing, but the tire literally popped. It took the dealer over 2 weeks to get a tire in because they were out. If they are going through this many tires there has to be a problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10113875, filed 2005-03, 7,800 miles

“The first and ongoing problem grinding in front left, driver, side wheel area. Many attempts have been made to fix this problem, they started out changing the whole front end, along with alignments, after some adjusting the problem will seem to go away only to return with in 2 months second, tires worn from inside out alignment, new tires, I was told one reason was the truck was dirty. I do not feel this is a reason for tire wear. New tires same problem. Third, truck not engaging when shifted into gear. …”

NHTSA complaint #10238681, filed 2008-08, 15 miles

“I noticed uneven wear on my tires. So, I stopped at a garage and I was told the tires were under inflated even though I had the tires at the recommending PSI. I put the PSI in that the technician recommended and the problem seemed to go away. I went in to have a routine oil change done at a local shop a year after this, and I needed to replace all 4 tires. They had worn down on the inside tread to the steel within only 26k miles. The vehicle has been driven conservatively, and mostly highway miles by my wife. So I put four new tires and had an alignment.”

NHTSA complaint #10217643, filed 2008-02, 26,000 miles

“I was driving my 2004 Chevrolet Colorado z71 4x4 in the passing lane on rt. 460, when the rear passenger side tire ( general ameritec tr p265/75-150) blew out, the whole side blew out. I was barely able to keep the vehicle under control. The tire wrapped itself around the hub and I injured my back trying to get it off . This tire seems too light duty for a pick-up, the side walls are very, very thin. Anyway, this tire only had 7400 miles on it when it blew out and neither the manufacture, nor the dealer would replace it. I ended up paying for a new one myself. …”

NHTSA complaint #10083052, filed 2004-07, 7,400 miles

“Vehicle causing excessive tread wear on inside of tire, exists on multiple sets of tires. Tread worn completely through, exposing inner layers of tire. If not noticed when it was there was a risk of complete failure for all 4 tires. Manufacturer refused to make adjustments to vehicle after first 4 tires failed (30k miles), continues to refuse service after next 4 showing same problem (15k miles).”
