“I have a 2004 chevy Colorado with 132,000 miles on it. I was driving my truck doing about 25 MPH when I couldn't drive it anymore. Upon inspection the truck had a hole in the frame. I had to have the truck towed by to my home. This truck shouldn't have this problem yet. I hear this is a problem with several Colorado owners.”

“I have a 2004 chevy Colorado z 71 ls. I bought it 4 years ago and it had 58,000 miles and I am the second owner of the truck. It has 115,000 miles on it and I already have frame rot. There is a crack in the frame between the cab and box which is causing my box touching the back of the cab that's causing damage to the cab. If you could please contact me.”

“I have a 2004 Colorado, with a very clean body, but my frame is totally rusted with holes near the rear leaf spring mounts. Chevrolet should be responsible for this!! I have read many complaints about these truck frames rotting!!”

NHTSA complaint #10958321, filed 2017-03, 136,000 miles

“In 2016, I purchased a used 2004 chevy Colorado. This year (2017) my daughter noticed excessive rust on the underside of the vehicle. Upon the next oil change, we were told that the frame was completely rotted and cracked in several places. We were then referred to a welding company, who said that it could be repaired for $4,000. We got a second opinion, who said that this repair was not worth it. We were then referred to a place that would completely replace the frame, but are waiting on a price.”

NHTSA complaint #11025160, filed 2017-09, 117,000 miles

“I went to install brakes when the mechanic noticed the jounce bumber missing, but when he looked closer he noticed it was rotted. The jounce buper bracket is part of the frame and it completely rotted out. I called GM and they inspected it and they said there is nothing they could do. I said toyota replaced all the chasis rotting out in the state of massachusetts, this would be the same the salt brine is rooting out frames and this vehicle is no longer safe. They will not even buy it back. I need your help.”
