“There is a serious an deadly problem with the design of the michelin tires specified for the 2007 (an other) CORVETTE Z06. The side wall of the tire completely collapses while executing a sharp turn either going forward or backing up. Detailed discussion with supplier discount tire and second hand communication with the michelin leads me to believe that michelin and discount tire are both aware of the problem. The absolute fact is the tires do collapse when making a sharp turn. If one makes a sharp turn with any speed or acceleration will cause the tire's sidewall to collapse. …”
NHTSA complaint #10576759, filed 2014-04, 13,000 miles“The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet corvette with oe concept aluminum wheels. The contact stated that the manufacturer put steel in the wheels, which caused the tires to become out of balance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that because two unlike metals were placed together, the tires would certainly disintegrate. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The equipment was returned. The failure and the current mileage was 32,000. The VIN was not available.”
