“Air compressor- has gone out and the cause for it was when I had a recall fixed. Chevrolet has stated they will not fix the issue and now as a college student I have to pay $1000 to have it fixed. I expected a reliable car and after more than 5 times in the shop I really wish I would have stuck with my 2001 vehicle which was more reliable than what this Equinox will ever be.”

NHTSA complaint #10690048, filed 2015-02, 68,300 miles

“While driving down I-95s, the 2010 Equinox lost power and the stability control light along with the check engine light came on. The car was pulled to the side of the interstate and eventually was flat-bedded to a local chevy dealer. Once the car was looked at by the dealer they informed me that the timing chain failed and the whole motor would need replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10440609, filed 2011-12, 31,290 miles

“My brand new Chevrolet Equinox 2010, which has less than 2000 miles has been overheating already. I took it into the dealership and they have no idea what the problem is. The temperature gauge does not work at times. The error message that I am getting: AC off due to high engine temperature .”

NHTSA complaint #10307779, filed 2010-02, 1,265 miles

“2010 chevy Equinox keeps knocking, dealer replaced timing chain twice and the timing chain tensioner twice and still has the problem. It now shuts off while driving and shakes and mis-fires when cold in the morning. Dealer cant seem to find anything wrong they said the 4-cyl engines are problematic and nothing can be done. I have called GM and they haven't offered me anything. I have videos of the car having problems, they said that's not good enough.”

NHTSA complaint #10453760, filed 2012-04, 35,000 miles
