“Upon driving my car to work with my two kids in the car, my car suddenly lost power without warning, the dashboard lit up engine power reduced as well as stabilitrac and traction control. The car would not accelerate to more than 20mph and then died on me. I contacted GM, received a claim number and they never called me back as promised. I was able to restart the car and continue on my way in fear for the safety of myself and my children. …”

NHTSA complaint #10825267, filed 2016-02, 55,426 miles

“So my traction control an ABS light goes off an I take it to the dealer to have it diagnosed, and it appears my left wheel sensor is faulty and can cause lock up in breaks and decreased power. Turns out to be a common problem on all chevy Equinox models.there have been various complaints and nothing is being done about it as I see this as a major accident waiting to happen, please take this into consideration.”

NHTSA complaint #10544080, filed 2013-09, 51,600 miles

“I was driving in the snow at approximately 40 MPH when the car decelerated to approx 20 MPH, the check engine light came on, the traction control light came on, the SUV started shaking and the reduced engine performance pop up was displayed. The dealer is replacing the throttle sensor due to a short. Luckily I was not on the highway at the time as going from 65 to 20 would have been very dangerous. This limp home/fallback mode seems sort of ill conceived especially on roads above 30 MPH.”

NHTSA complaint #10690460, filed 2015-02, 70,000 miles

“I was driving to work this morning when I went over train tracks. As soon as I did my stbilitrak light came on. All wheel drive turned off as well as ABS. My car would no longer accelerate. I tried to break and nearly lost control of the vehicle. I'm upset with my vehicle. I have had so many problems with it. I have always owned a chevy, but I think they quality in work is decreasing. I will be thinking about what kind of car I will get next. I prefer chevy since it's all our family has every bought, however I'm sick of having unexpected problems with it.”

NHTSA complaint #11265966, filed 2019-10, 5 miles

“The stabilitrak and engine warning lights on our 2011 Equinox have come on unexpectedly multiple times. When this occurs the car vibrates and looses power. The first time this happened was on the freeway, creating a dangerous situation as I was suddenly unable to maintain speed. I brought the car to the dealer for repair at a cost of $200, however two weeks later the problem recurred, again while driving on the freeway. Once again I brought the car in for service. I also contacted GM. …”
