“My husband, newborn baby and I were driving on the highway when the vehicle suddenly slowed and then stalled in the middle of traffic. This occured every time my husband used the brakes. Luckily we managed to make it back home safely. The vehichle constantly needs oil and then it died for the last time about a month ago as we pulled into a family members driveway.”

NHTSA complaint #11229105, filed 2019-07, 110,000 miles

“I have had constant high oil consumption, have had to replace vvt solenoids twice, timing and balance shaft chains had to be replaced, engine misfiring. Can barely go 2 months without any issues. Always something wrong. I've looked this up and many people have had similar issues with this engine.”

NHTSA complaint #11402858, filed 2021-03, 124,000 miles

“I have had my SUV worked on 6 different times due stalling, loosing power, cutting out,and not wanting to accelerate . They replaced the throttle body updated the computer replaced air filter, etc. Worked for 2 weeks and now is still having this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11204719, filed 2019-04, 134,000 miles

“This vehicle has never gotten anywhere near the advertised epa estimated gas mileage. I have over 20000 miles on it now and have only averaged around 23 mpg on the highway in eco mode. This really should be considered false advertising. I bought the vehicle mainly because of the estimated 30 mpg. Really disappointed in GM at this point.”

NHTSA complaint #10574022, filed 2014-03, 50 miles

“My wife purchased a 2011 chevy Equinox with a window sticker stating a four cylinder engine. It had 1800 miles on the vehicle when purchased. We took the vehicle in to have the oil changed and found it has a six cylinder engine. How is this possible and who should I speak with at GM. I'm very concerned because of the terrible gas mileage and a six cyl engine was not shown on the paper work?”
