“I tried starting car several times and would not start. Pumped the gas pedal while trying to start and finally started. This has been an issue for several months now. Had the fuel filter changed and still have the same problem. I have read several forums where there is a recall on my vehicle concerning this matter.”

NHTSA complaint #10680718, filed 2015-02, 130,503 miles

“My 2005 Equinox, I have only 80k miles on it,- key will not start ignition normal. Gets stuck and have to shake key forward for about 20+ minutes before it finally turns on. And when the car is on and running at any speed, the key will just come out of ignition. Map lights leak water when it rains. Car smells like mold. Fuel gauge always says empty and I get less than 16 mpg. …”

NHTSA complaint #10629257, filed 2014-08, 80,000 miles

“I was on an interstate highway. The auto in front of me changed lanes and I accelerated to go past the auto. The accelerator stuck to the floorboard and would not release even after repeated attempts to try and get it to respond. I was able to shift into neutral while the engine was still at full acceleration. I was able to change lanes and glided to a stop in the emergency lane. Where I was able to get the accelerator to disengage. I was very lucky the traffic pattern allowed me to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The accelerator is an electrical system.”

NHTSA complaint #10923823, filed 2016-11, 93,000 miles

“My 2005 chevy Equinox fails to start sometimes. It turns over like it wants to start but nothing. I've had it checked out and they can't seem to pinpoint the problem. Stepping on the gas will usually get the car to finally start but not always. It is happening more and more often. The battery, starter, etc has been checked and they're fine. Next step is changing fuel pump (very expensive) but none of the local garages seem to think that is really the problem as they see this a lot on the Equinox.”

NHTSA complaint #10386413, filed 2011-03, 45,000 miles

“My remote would not lock the doors. Replaced batteries. It would lock and unlock once. Then nothing. Fuse blown. Replace fuse. Work once, blow fuse. Took to dealer after 3 months of not being able to access my trunk space, you can't open from inside or outside without remote. A wire inside the passenger door had somehow been severed??? How does that happen. $685 to fix.... Next huge issue: driving down road.. Front end gone???? Struts, links...$1100 car won't start ...have to give it gas, seen a lot of these with no idea what's wrong. …”
