“While driving on the expressway my car suddenly started slowing down and on the display it said that engine power reduced, the check engine light came on, and the traction stability light came on. I was going 55mph and it went down to 35mph. I made it home safely which was good that no one hit me on the expressway. I took my car in the next morning and the dealer service department told me that I needed a new accelerator pedal which will cost $720 to replace cause it just went out of warranty by 300 miles. …”

NHTSA complaint #11306327, filed 2020-01, 35 miles

“Please look into this issue, very dangerous! I was on my way home from work driving on the northeast extension of the pa turnpike heading south, and I was between exit 95 & exit 87 on friday 8/2/19 at approx. 3:30 pm. I was driving the posted speed limit of 70 MPH and was not using cruise control when the car abruptly shifted into low gear, flashed a 'reduced power mode' warning, and went into a 'limp' mode where it was slowing down to eventually stop itself, but I was at 40 or 35 when I pulled over. …”

NHTSA complaint #11244743, filed 2019-08, 40,000 miles

“My car was in Clarksburg Crown, Mitsubishi, and a lot that had no monitoring, and it was a sticker saying the car was not ready to be sold, and I still went with it trusting the crown Mitsubishi Car associate however there are fuses added to my car weather from them or from car auto tunes in Morgantown I’m not sure but my car has the ability to run without my foot on the gas or things happening to my to my acceleration”

NHTSA complaint #11753998, filed 2026-07

“I was driving at 330am had cruise control to 70 the speed limit and when I hit my breaks the cruise control didn't disengage instead it speed faster making me lose control of me vehicle took out a sign and went over the hill. My vehicle was totaled.”

NHTSA complaint #11469682, filed 2022-06

“While driving my 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, the vehicle repeatedly displays diagnostic trouble code P2138 (Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor Voltage Correlation). The vehicle suddenly enters “Reduced Engine Power” mode without warning and loses acceleration while driving. This occurs daily and multiple times per day, both on highways and local roads. When the issue happens, the vehicle will not properly accelerate and loses power unexpectedly. This creates a serious safety hazard, especially in highway traffic, as I am unable to maintain speed or accelerate to avoid other vehicles. …”
