“The autostop feature turned the car off and did not turn on when I pressed the accelerator and I was in a intersection and I waited for ten minutes and it turned on again. The problem was with the computer which wasn't working.”

NHTSA complaint #11191182, filed 2019-03, 20,000 miles

“While driving home from work at 9:30 pm on a state highway, my 17 year old son hit a deer on the front passenger side of the car. The airbags deployed and he slowed down and pulled over and smelled smoke. He got out of the car and saw flames. He immediately called 911 and his mother. The car was on fire and burned until fire company got there and put the fire out. Most of the passenger side of the car under the hood was destroyed. The car was a total loss. My concern is that car should never have caught on fire. My son is lucky he could get out of the car. …”

NHTSA complaint #11324865, filed 2020-05, 8,000 miles

“The vechicle's engine shuts off while stopped for a very short time on roads in traffic. It can be a major highway, or interstate and even neighborhood roads. It can be hazardous as the vehicle takes a minute to start back up and get going. I had no idea this feature even existed, before I experienced it after purchasing. I am also experiencing problems with the tailgate/trunk locking. I lock the vehicle, and all doors lock except the trunk. I have only had the vehicle since dec 31,2018 and am very surprised to be experiencing these issues so soon.”

NHTSA complaint #11174946, filed 2019-02, 1,400 miles

“Purchased new car on september 7 2019. Started having car issues on 9/25/2019 took car in on 9/27/2019. Car was making loud screeching noises, brake pedal would get hard. Was hard to break. When reversing screeching noise would get louder and louder. Was told by a Chevrolet technician car was fine it was because it was new. Took car in once again on 12/26/2019 vehicle would randomly not turn on, brake pedal would get hard, car would screech. Came to the point were I was scared to take the car to the grocery store because I was unsure on whether the car would randomly not start. …”

NHTSA complaint #11302696, filed 2020-01, 3,000 miles

“I am unable to gauge the time needed for the car to restart after autostop shuts the motor at a hard stop. This is dangerous for all drivers as even when lifting my foot from the brake the car does not move as it should in drive. Instead, placing my foot on the gas pedal is required. This causes unexpected delays in beginning to drive that could have severe and long lasting consequences. I do not at all feel safe in this vehicle. This happens both during city and highway driving, I.e. When sitting in traffic. Other manufacturers have a switch to deactivate autostop. Chevrolet does not. …”
